Tervakoski Films Group has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Martin Frimer, who is responsible for finance, HR and IT functions. With a background in corporate banking, controlling and financial management, he brings both analytical expertise and practical leadership experience to Tervakoski Films Group’s continued growth.

From banking to industrial leadership
Martin describes his career path as a long-term process built step by step. After graduating from university with a focus on economics, he started his career in corporate banking, where he spent nearly half of his professional life.
“The bank gave me a macroeconomic view of companies. It taught me financial analysis, long-term planning and strategic financing relationships”, Martin says.
After ten years in banking, Martin wanted to move closer to the operational side of business. He joined a medium-sized engineering company, where he gradually advanced from controller to finance director. This transition from banking into industrial business was one of the key milestones of his career.
A lean and efficient company culture
Since joining Tervakoski Films Group, he has been positively surprised by the company’s efficiency and organizational culture.
“Tervakoski Films Group has strong sales, excellent economic results and a large production environment. Naturally, I expected a very large organization behind it. Instead, I found a lean and highly efficient company where experienced professionals take real responsibility for their work”, Martin says.
He believes this mindset is one of the reasons behind the company’s long-term success.
Martin Frimer’s responsibilities combine a vast responsibility of finance, HR and IT management. He says balancing these different areas requires fast decision-making, strong prioritization and the ability to move quickly between strategic and detailed thinking.
“The most important thing is identifying the root cause of problems as quickly as possible. At the same time, you need a strong team around you. Trust and responsibility are essential”, he says.
He also emphasizes open communication and making sure employees understand the purpose behind decisions and projects.
“When people understand the real benefit of their work for the company, everything works more naturally.”
Investments and digital transformation
Tervakoski Films Group is currently in an active investment phase, expanding both base film and metallisation production capacity. At the same time, the company is implementing SAP S/4HANA, one of the largest digital transformation projects in its recent history.
According to Martin, the transition will significantly improve reporting speed, data transparency and process efficiency.
“We are moving from traditional systems into real-time operations. The goal is to simplify processes and allow employees to focus more on strategic and development tasks”, he explains.
In HR, Tervakoski Films Group continues to recruit new talent to support its growth. The company especially needs candidates with technical education and practical industrial skills. He also sees international recruitment becoming increasingly important despite challenges such as language barriers and integration.

Leadership, balance and teamwork
Outside work, Martin spends much of his time outdoors. He enjoys mountain hiking, swimming and traditional Slovak folk music. He plays accordion in a folk group.
“It is important for me to maintain balance. Music and nature help me clear my mind and recharge”, Martin says.
Martin says that he values order, detail and conceptual thinking, but also believes humor is important even in demanding situations.
“I want colleagues to see me as a responsible person who can make decisions, but also someone approachable who supports teamwork and mutual trust.”
